Happy Skin Project is a program to provide free and discounted soap to people currently undergoing chemotherapy. The idea came from our founder Judith's background in having extreme skin issues, working in an intensive care hospital setting and a long list of family members touched and taken by cancer, including her mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. The initiative truly took form during Judith’s time caring for patients and family members. It was during this time that she realized that health insurance doesn’t cover an allowance for quality, sensitive skin products. Without proper skincare for fragile/medically impacted skin a patient can be left with dry, itchy skin that can lead to skin tears that cause infection, which can turn into a life-threatening situation for the immunocompromised. The Happy Skin Project provides high quality, deeply moisturizing bars at the same price as drug store brands to elevate and soothe problems that came from cancer treatments.
Judith has partnered with the YMCA x LIVESTRONG Foundation to host classes about how to keep skin healthy during chemo, as well as giving away free bars of soap. We are also working to be able to donate a set number of bars monthly to our local cancer hospital.
Currently soap can be purchased at a deeply discounted price via our online shop under the listing "The Happy Skin Project".
As of June 2020 we have given away over 300 bars of soap.
