Happy Skin Project is a program to provide free and discounted soap to people currently undergoing chemotherapy. The idea resulted from Judith's background in having extreme skin issues, her work in an intensive care hospital setting, and a long list of family members touched and taken by cancer, including her mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. The initiative truly took form during Judith’s time caring for patients and family members. It was during this time that she realized that health insurance doesn’t cover an allowance for quality, sensitive skin products. Without proper skincare suitable for fragile/medically-impacted skin, a patient is often left with dry, itchy skin. This can lead to skin tears that cause infection, which can turn into a life-threatening situation for the immunocompromised. The Happy Skin Project provides high-quality, deeply-moisturizing soap bars at the same price as drug store brands in order to alleviate and soothe skin problems that come from cancer treatments.
Judith has partnered with the YMCA x LIVESTRONG Foundation, hosting classes about how to keep skin healthy during chemo as well as giving away free bars of soap. We are also working towards being able to donate a set number of bars monthly to our local cancer hospital.
Currently soap can be purchased at a deeply discounted price via our online shop under the listing, "The Happy Skin Project."
